different product image size -for different porducts

Hello
Must all product image sizes be the same?
Or is it possible to have some products images display larger that others.
i mean in the fist product listings page.
I would like to have a main top image larger - then smaller product images below that. (as in attached mockup)

Not possible without some detailed edits to the code. The image sizes are globally applied for different page-type displays.
