Trouble getting favicon to show in IE using Template Monster template

https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=52
Neither one of these solutions works for me!

The favicon displays in FireFox but not Internet Explorer 8. Yes, IE usually needs the two lines of code used above to work

<link rel="icon" href="http://www.judysboutique.ca/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" /> <link rel="shortcut icon" href="http://www.judysboutique.ca/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" />

I tried the tutorial directions, this doesn't work for me because I don't have a file called:"
/includes/languages/english/YOURTEMPLATE/meta_tags.php

My site is hosted at HostPapa. The Zen Cart install is 1.3.8a and is done by the host. I installed Monster Templates theme - but neither the "default" install nor the template install have the meta_tags.php file.

What am I missing doing here? Please advise.

Thanks

Re: Trouble getting favicon to show in IE using Template Monster template

Update:

Finally found the meta_tags.php file. For the HostPapa / Monster Template Theme 25879 install, it was found in "includes/languages/english/meta_tags.php"

However, after editing the meta_tags file according to the directions in the original tutorial, the favicon still does not display in IE.

Editing the tpl_header.php file only places the two lines of favicon reference in the BODY tag not in the HEADER tag.

Does anyone have a solution to this?

Thanks :frusty:

I notice you didn't get a response to your problem. That's too bad. I'm having the same problem getting my favicon to work as well. After creating it with a favicon service, I uploaded it to my root directory, but no go. What am I doing wrong.

I await your thoughtful response.
Thank you

never mind, it started to work. As it says, I just put the favicon in the root, but then I cleared cache after restarting browser.

I await your thoughtful response.
Thank you

But that only shows the favicon, not with your site.

I await your thoughtful response.

Re: Trouble getting favicon to show in IE using Template Monster template

I simply dropped it in the root, no editing of files, and it works fine in all three browsers.

The best way to learn is to try stuff. But, back it up first.

Unless you have an animated favicon, right? How can you get ie to display the animated type ?

I await your thoughtful response.
