Remove Specials, New Products etc. links from under categories

You know when you are looking at your website categories list and below your categories there are a few links there that say Specials, Featured Products, New Products, All Products, is there a way to remove those links?

Admin>Configuration>Layout Settings:

**Categories Box - Show Specials Link
**Categories Box - Show Products New Link
**Categories Box - Show Featured Products Link
**Categories Box - Show Products All Link

Set all to false.

Ahhhh, maybe I mis-understood.........I thought you were talking about the categories sidebox. If you were talking about those listings being on the index page, then of course, Clyde is right.......as always.

Sorry for any confusion.

Not at all, the original post was a little ambiguous and at first glance it could refer to the category/product listing pages which also show new, featured, and specials below the listing.

I have the same problem (want to remove de "New Products" ...) and tryed to apply the solution sugested here , the changes made to categories did not affect the outcome and i could not find "index listing"
Do i do something wrong ? any help ?

thanks been looking to turn these off as they are in my footer ..just makes site look cleaner

I am getting the default cPanel page, you may want to talk to your web host.

I have turned off all the show specials values in the Admin/Config/Index Listing settings.

But the specials still show up if you have an empty shopping cart. That is ... you put something in your cart, then you X it out. On the page after you have deleted the item out of your cart, you get the empty shopping cart message and a display page that shows up nowhere else in the site. :(

I am at a loss how to find which file controls this view. And the specials right now need to be invisible. They're a special offer in an advertisement.

Any suggestions?

I have turned off all the show specials values in the Admin/Config/Index Listing settings.

But the specials still show up if you have an empty shopping cart.

OK, I found it! I did some poking around in the code, thinking I had exausted all the configuration options.

I noticed in the default shopping cart template that there was indeed a reference to a setting for SHOW_SHOPPING_CART_EMPTY_SPECIALS_PRODUCTS

So I poked around using the tools/developers tool kit
and searched for that as a constant name

There it was. And it's a setting under Admin/config/stock ... which was one of the few config screens I never checked. It didn't sound like it would have anything to do with what I was looking for.

Whew! No code had to be touched, no template had to be edited. I hope my little adventure saves someone else some time, too.
