Product image upload directory not one in config.php

zc 1.3.8a. Been installed for a year, working great. ZC was installed in the /catalog directory because there was an old site in the / of the www. All the images for ZC were in /images. I correctly and succesfully changed the image directory in config.php and the admin config.php files to reflect the /images folder and not the /catalog/images folder. The other day my client filled the disk quota on the site. I increased the disk quota to allow for more products to be added to her site. Since then, adding or modifying a product lists the directories in the /catalog/images folder instead of the /images folder when inserting / browsing for a product image. both config files are setup correctly to reflect /images as the image directory.
