Add a product description deletes category description

I've got a strange problem which I can't seem to fathom.

I have main categories such as
Mild, Medium, Hot

Then I had subcategories such as
Anaheim, Jalapeno etc

If the subcategory is blank then the description is displayed.
However if I add a product to the subcategory it removed the description.

How do i get round this?

I'd like to put all the details in the subcategory description as i will have lots of products for each category and don't want the same information coming up again and again.

The only ones I've changed are Anaheim, Ancho, Black Hungarian and Calabrese. I don't want to keep repeating the same information for each product. We are going to have different pot sizes.

All of the other ones, it shows the category (variety) description but where I've added a product name, it removes this description.

What you are really seeing is a Category with 1 Product and have the Skip Product Listing turned on for Categories with 1 Product so you are going to the product _info page ...

Add another Product and you will see the Product Listing with the Category Description showing ...

This setting is in the Configuration ... Layout Settings ...

Skip 1-prod Categories
Skip single-product categories
If this option is set to True, then if the customer clicks on a link to a category which only contains a single item, then Zen Cart will take them directly to that product-page, rather than present them with another link to click in order to see the product.
Default: True
