Paypal express checkout - working, but small issue confusing to customers...

Hi,

I've just gotten the Paypal Express checkout to work with my Zen cart.

There is a slight issue that will confuse customers though depending on what way they go through to payment. I've jotted down the two slightly different ways they can go right now and where I think confusion may occur and I'm looking to see if there's a way I can force Scenario 1 all the time while not allowing Scenario 2 (by removing a button or something).

Anyway I hope the following makes sense:

Scenario 1:

Click on a product
Click Add this to my cart
Click Checkout with paypal [paypal icon - NOT the zen cart 'go to checkout' button]
Login and pay
BACK TO STORE (2 of 3)
Click Continue Checkout
(3 of 3)
Click Confirm The Order
DONE! Thank you - we apprecaite your business

THIS IS PERFECT.

Scenario 2:

Click on a product
Click Add this to my cart
Instead of clicking "Checkout with Paypal" Click zen cart "go to checkout"
(2 of 3) Click "Continue checkout"
(3 of 3) Click "Confirm the order"
At this point jumps to Paypal - enter details etc
AFTER THIS IT JUMPS BACK TO STEP 2 of 3!!!!! This is the problem [Payment hasn't gone through at this point]
Click "Continue Checkout"
CLick "confirm order"
and order is made

Scenario 2 does actually work at the end of the day, but I want to stop it as an option as it will confuse people I think. I guess I'm asking is there a way to remove the "Go to checkout" button on page 1 of 3? That'd do it....

Although maybe there's something simple I'm missing.

Bizarre. I can't replicate that. It's certainly not intentionally written to work that way.

What's different between your shop and a brand new clean install of v1.3.8a with demo products and taxes set for Florida and store address set to USA+Florida, and shipping options using only defaults, and payment options only using Express Checkout (with US business account and USD) and check/moneyorder?

Well, my store is based in Ireland and has three shipping zones. I'll try and post screen grabs of the zone settings if that helps.

Under Location / Taxes in the admin:

Tax Classes - ID: 1 - Taxable Goods - The following types of products are included: non-food, services, etc
[I.E. Default I think]

Tax Rates has no entry. Goods are just priced at retail values, and the only charges added are shipping at the moment.

I might see if I can hack the code to just remove the zen cart button and make it so that the punters HAVE to click on the pay with paypal button then.

I know it's a horrible solution, but it'll get me out of a hole. Any / all other suggestions welcome - and thanks for the input so far.

One other thing I'm thinking of trying is upgrading to the PHP 5 version - although I suspect this might bring about more issues than it solves...

At this stage I'm going to try and remove more of the unused payment modules, and if that doesn't work I'm going to try and hack the code to remove the initial zen cart button.

Why do you have so many shipping modules with yellow status icons? If you're not using them, click "Remove" so they aren't firing ... same with the payment modules.
