area of a different color

My site shows an area in between logo wrapper and catTab Wrappers that comes out with the color given to the body area (white) instead of the ivory colour chosen.
I cannot understand to what this part of the cart pertains to.
The aim is to have it in ivory instead of white, though body has to remain white.
Thanks

Re: area of a different color

I see that you are making edits to the CLASSIC template... You should be using your own CUSTOM template...

... anyway

Find this file:

includes/templates/template_default/common/tpl_header.php

FTP it to your computer and open it for editing in a PLAIN TEXT EDITOR such as EMERALD EDITOR on NOTEPAD++

Around line 93 - 94 find:

<br class="clearBoth" />
<!--eof-branding display-->

Comment out the <br> tag

<!-- <br class="clearBoth" /> -->
<!--eof-branding display-->

Save the file on your hard drive.

FTP the edited file to

includes/templates/classic/common/

(If there is no common folder at that location, create one)

So you get:

includes/templates/classic/**common/**tpl_header.php

If there are errors in this file, then just delete it. because your store will revert to the CORE file in template_default/common/

Then, try the edit again.

This ought to work... But there are often issues with the depth of your header logo and the wrapper...

Try my idea first.

I'm gonna try immediately.
:smile::smile:

May I ask you a question which is not inherent to this specific topic?
Actually I need some advice how to post something in order to get a reply.

Re: area of a different color

Great it did work! :clap::clap:

1- What does it mean your: " But there are often issues with the depth of your header logo and the wrapper...".

2- I used classic as I thought it was a safer way since my cart crashed about four times before reaching this stage, not that any time my unzenned mistakes were necessarily related to the template.

3- Why is it better to have a Custom template instead of using classic even though I did my best to copy in classic, whenever possible, those files I had modified?
I am sorry if this question might sound quite dumb .

Re: area of a different color

If you keep the /classic/ files and folders exactly as they started, you will always have a template that is known to work correctly. If you then have a custom template installed and something goes wrong with your site, you can switch to the Classic template. If it works again, you know that the problem is in your template files; if it still does not work, you know the problem is somewhere else.

Also, every time you upgrade your site to a newer version of Zen Cart, all /classic/ files will be replaced, and you will lose all customizations you have done to them.

Re: area of a different color

Thanks it is more than sensible . I will create a new template.

I do thanks since both you and schoolboys gave me quick and clear answers that even I could understand.:clap:

I have another issue which has become a real pain in a leg, I tried posting in different threads since I cannot figure where exactly is the most suitable one and had no reply.
May I get a clue?
This site, V 1.3.8a, has polish as default and english as second language. It has got its Multilanguage, its Polish Beta and will have to have two more languages. The problems arises with Polish ezpages and the editor, no matter which; ezpages editors work well in English, Fckeditor plugin (works wonderfully) but NOT in Polish ez-pages. I tried three times to install but, but no way. Shall I have to guess that this is mainly due to the Polish (who are notoriously resistant and tough people) or has it got something to do with Zen-cart and consequently to what part(s) of it ?

Thanks again.:smile::smile:

I did it (again) at my best but this is what I have got with the new template and it is out of question I cannot understand why all my left sideboxes don't show up.

That's the beauty of this forum... there is such a wealth of knowledge and expertise in its archive. I learn from all of it too - many times a week!

Re: area of a different color

I admin another forum, and nothing drives me crazier than people not searching before posting. So, after I worked my way through the tutorials, I started searching the forum for answers on things not covered in the tutorial section. I'm on here several times a day, this forum is helping me learn so much. It's also helping me design a better storefront for my customers by changing things I wouldn't have even thought about(such as putting the Starting At text in the product listing as well as the product info page.) And I keep coming up on things like that from searches. I'm just thankful for all of you experienced zenners out there, I would be so lost without you all! Hopefully, one day, I'll be zenned enough to contribute more than just questions.
