too many sub-categories dispalying per page

I wonder if anyone has figured this out?
i need to limit the number of sub categories to dispaly.
i want to see about 6, then a next page link.
Limiting "Maximum Categories Products Display List" has no effect for me:no:

"Maximum Categories Products Display List" is set to 4 but too many sub categories keep displaying on first page.

I'm having problems with this as well. Is there mutli-page catalog support for subcategory listings?

I need to limit them to 12 per page
