How do I add subcategory names to search results?

I've got a problem:

I've got some different kinds of pasta in my shop. One kind is Fettuccine from the company Barilla. All the pastas are in the subcategory called "Pasta".

When I search for products from the front page by writing Barilla or Fettuccine, then they show up. But if I just write pasta (which would be the most logical word for a new costumer to search for) nothing comes up.

Is there a way to let the product search include subcategories so that if you search for "Pasta" it automatically displays all the products in the Pasta subcategory?

Pasta isn't part of your description or your product name ...

So, when searching for Pasta it is rather hard to find Products that do not have the word in them ...
