Editable Home Page Centerboxes [Support]

DivaVocals:

Description

Editable Centerboxes is a simple module which adds three editable content boxes to the home page. I got the idea because I was trying to do something similar to this:

  • osc.template-help.com/wt_27414/index.html
  • osc.template-help.com/wt_26807/index.html

Each centerbox has an associated defined page which can be edited using the defined pages editor.

Ready to get started? Just follow the installation instructions below: Note that the module only makes small changes to one pre-existing files!

I'm submitting this to the downloads section tonight. You'll find it there when it's activated.

Hope others find this useful..
!!READ EVERYTHING!!

I very strongly recommend you read through the entire Readme file BEFORE installing.

[EDIT: Renamed to centerboxes for consistency with Zen Cart names]*

Hi, DivaVocals
May i know which plugin Did you use for slider show?
I found the code below but still not make sense.

<!-- slide-box begin -->
     	<div class="slide-box" id="wrapper">
           <ul>
              <li><img alt="" src="images/slide1.jpg" /></li>
              <li><img alt="" src="images/slide2.jpg" /></li>
              <li><img alt="" src="images/slide3.jpg" /></li>
              <li><img alt="" src="images/slide4.jpg" /></li>
              <li><img alt="" src="images/slide5.jpg" /></li>
           </ul>
        </div>
        <!-- slide-box end -->
        <div class="slogan">
        	<div class="indent">
              Business<strong>Quality</strong><strong>Standard</strong>
           </div>
        </div>
     </div>
  </div>

Could You also tell me how to change the whole site background?
Thank you

Your questions have nothing to do with the Editable Centerboxes mod; you should ask them in a new thread to keep information in relevant compartments. I'm sure some people will find and answer a thread that has a meaningful title.

Re: Editable Home Page Centerboxes [Support]

By the way, I checked, and you are asking about one of the Template Monster templates Diva referenced; those are commercial templates, and their code or information about them will not be available anywhere in the Zen Cart support forum. There are other javascript sliders available in Plugins.

Yes it REALLY is!!! Give one MUCH ore flexibility with layouts on their site's versus the stuffy old 2 or three column look..

Re: Editable Home Page Centerboxes [Support]

I have recently added this module into one site and all is fine - in a second site I cannot upload the install_middleboxes.sql file - I simply get a page saying "WARNING: An Error occurred, please refresh the page and try again. " - this happens whether I use the browse or actually copy and paste the file. I have tried it about 7 times so far with no success. I even re uploaded the install files a second time in case a file was missed.

The following is from the log files;

Re: Editable Home Page Centerboxes [Support]

These errors don't help indicate why the SQL script failed.. they instead tell us that the home page doesn't load since these constants are missing. They are missing because the SQL failed to load (and without an error related to the failed SQL load, it's hard to say why it failed).. Suggest running rolling back and starting over.. rolling back means take the site back to the way it was BEFORE installing.. Remove the files.. run the uninstall or even better, restore form the backup I hope you made before installing..

I rolled back then reinstalled and still the same 'warning' - in respect to doing a restore there is too much that has been done on the site since to restore back (I did an upgrade from 1.3.9h to 1.5.1 and re-installed a number of add-ons) - my fault, I should be doing a backup after every amendment to the site and keeping better notes - however what is done is done, a lesson learned for next time.

So is there any way to load the sql file other than via the admin? is there a way that any old version in the database can be deleted or overwritten? I am using this mod on a couple of other sites and it is beneficial and I want to use it on both of the two sites not accepting the sql file.

looking forward to any assistance, cheers, Mike

the warning comes with an ERROR LOG.. Why don't you post the contents of that error log so we can get to the ACTUAL root of the issue versus assuming that running the SQL in a different manner will yield a different result..

on one site I deleted all the files associated with the mod so nothing appears under the configuration tab, once all files were deleted I ran the uninstall sql file (successfully) then tried again to load the install sql file but it still would not load.

on the other site it does appear under the configuration tab but when clicked on all that appears on the page is the column headers (title, value, action).

cheers, Mike

Using MyPHPAdmin, you are going to have to go into the admin menu, configuration and configuration group tables and remove all traces of this module.. Not sure why (and I won't be able to test any time soon) the uninstall script isn't working.. But once you manually remove any entries that deal with this module, the install SQL should run just fine..

Updated 3.0 to 3.01 with development help from mc12345678 to update install_middleboxes.sql - it works a treat - including in 'responsive' templates.

Re: Editable Home Page Centerboxes [Support]

Submitted version 3.1.0 for review to go a little further with the above changes and to incorporate some additional observed improvements.

Incorporated an auto-installer to improve the installation process.
Updated the template override files to ZC v1.5.5.
Added overrides for ZC 1.5.5's responsive_classic template.
Improved the logic of the tpl_middleboxes file to address sites operating in strict mode to minimize generation of notification messages and move html out of echo statements.

When accepted, should be available here.

Re: Editable Home Page Centerboxes [Support]

hello MC - I am having some issues with white space where global right column setting is turned off - see this thread https://www.zen-cart.com/showthread.php?224094-Global-Column-setting-not-giving-desired-result-in-some-instances&p=1346695#post1346695

Question is - does this plugin have any overriding effect on page width? I think not but am exploring every possible angle here as the problem indicated in that thread is somewhat frustrating.

cheers,
Mike
