PayPal checkout button not working

Hi there. I am running zen cart 1.3.8 with google checkout added on, otherwise its just the standard website.

A couple weeks ago i started getting the duplicate order problem that apparently multiple people got. i blanked the pdt key like was mentioned in someone elses thread, didnt fix it. The customer is not getting CHARGED twice, its just that zen cart is duplicating the order and giving a new number order. Which causes some major annoyances with inventory (if i have 2 items left, the product goes out of stock, so even when deleting the order and restocking product, the product stay offline, even when it shows one in stock, etc).

anyway, i tried to just install paypal express instead. I recieved a couple orders but no payments, so i tested it. It gives me two options to checkout, with the checkout through paypal logo, and the standard Go To Checkout button thats in zencart. When I click on the paypal logo, it doesnt work. It just freezes up, and doesnt complete the order/payment. I still get the order, but i never recieve payment, because the final paypal page never finishes loading.
However, if I use the Go To Checkout button in paypal, everything appears to work just fine. i get the payment and i only get one single order! It seems pretty much everyone is drawn to that logo and uses that way, which isnt working. Is it possible, and if so how, to remove that button from the checkout process so their only option is to use the standard Go To Checkout button with zen cart.

Rather than break more functionality, and also your TOS with PayPal, by removing a button that's not working, it would be more effective to fix whatever's broken.
It's not normal for it to "just freeze up", and that's certainly not how it works for me when I attempt to use it on any of the many servers I work with each day.

Well i would love to fix it, so yeah.
Unfortunately, i dont know how and i havent found the answers anywhere on here.

plus i dont really see what harm removing that paypal button would do. (besides their TOS or whatever, which isnt a biggie). Its not breaking functionality. Its not functional to begin with. Im sure its not normal, but the fact remains it doesnt work, and im not going to place something online that doesnt work and keeps me from getting orders. However, the alternative is also broken as well, and has no apparent fix either. lesser of two evils kinda thing.

Hi I have been getting the same problem, and I wondered if you ever found a solution? I would rather keep the button, but failing that I agree the button needs to be removed rather than risking people leaving completely.:huh:

my version of zen cart is Zen Cart 1.3.8a - Database Patch Level: 1.3.8, linux server, MySQL 4.1.22-standard
