New Products not displaying

I have a client, who is using zencart 1.3.7 (yes I know there's an upgrade) and her what's new isn't actually displaying what's new. It's displaying random items. Is it because of the lack of upgrade or has she possibly missed something in the admin control panel? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

Take a look at what setting has been applied in

admin >>> Maximum values >>> New Product Listing - Limited to ...
