Help With Categories!!

Hi everyone. I have been trying to find a solution to this but haven't had any luck at all so hoping someone can tell me what I could be missing.

We have a category with a number of subcategories. When you click on the on the main category link it should show all the products in the subcategories but now only shows what's on specials. We recently installed some patches so this is what may have caused it but I don't know how to fix it.

Our site is HERE. The category that is having a problem is "Green Mountain Coffee K-Cups".

It should actually show All the subcategories under it BUT you are not even getting that

Check your setting for
admin > config > layout settings > Categories - Always Open to Show SubCategories

Re: Help With Categories!!

Hey Kobra... not sure what you mean, I can see the subcategories under it... hope there isn't something different on my computer from others.... I checked the setting you mentioned and it is set to 1(on).

Steve, I checked yours too, but that is not the issue we are having I don't think.

It's like if you click on one of the subcategories, it shows all the products for that subcategory. It use to do that for the main category link. If you clicked on it, it would show every product in the subcategory.

Do either of you think something has gone weird with our database??

Thanks!!

No but I do suspect that there has been a file modification for this by you or a module you have installed

Why??
Viewing your source there is this that is not default

<!--// bof: chcategories //-->

Re: Help With Categories!!

Oh Hmm... Thanks Kobra.... I wonder if that has to do with the patches we recently installed.

I don't know what file that is in either. I tried to do a search for it with the Developer Tool Kit but it isn't bringing up anything. I guess I should just remove it...

Re: Help With Categories!!

I see what you mean when viewing the page source... but I would need to remove or rename the Zen Cart file that is calling the "chcategory" div.... but I can't find which file is using it.

I do a search for "chcategory" but nothing in the search is returned.

Re: Help With Categories!!

It would seem that using the Developers Tool Kit to search for 'chcategory' would have to return a file.

I think the file you're loking for might be includes/templates/template_default/common/tpl_box_default_left.php

Re: Help With Categories!!

Also, you can try awitching to the classic template and see what displays....

Some file modification is making that one cat open to the subcats as default they would all be closed until selected

Well I would leave it there and get your settings correct before switching back....
If you are not seeing anything it must be a setting as long as all yoiur file editsare in template override folders

Re: Help With Categories!!

Not really the same problem, but I need help with categories.
I am using version 1.3.8 of zen-cart where we shall sell scarves.
The same scarf could be classified by its size - long, square etc
It could be classified by the fabric - cotton, silk, wool, pashmina etc.
It could be classified by color - pink, blue, red, green etc.
and it could be classified by the print - polka, stripes, floral etc.
I have seen a website like this at https://www.elizabetta.net
Wonder if this could be done in zen-cart without compromising on the looks and functionality.

Any help is welcome.
