Geotrust Seal sidebox contribution not showing the seal's image ...

I installed the Geotrust Quick SSL Icon contribution, as it's a 1.3.7 contribution, and I am using 1.3.8a, I am not sure if there can be issues. My problem is the box is there but the seal is not, if I hover over the place where the image supposed to be I can click it, so the link works but no image. I tried something else and put the code in the footer but same problem ... no image ...

So might that be a version problem or something else?

Thank you

The Geotrust Smarticon will only display on https (ssl) pages. If your Geotrust side box also appears on non-ssl pages then the smarticon may not show. At least that is my understanding. You may want to check the appearance of the box on SSL pages - the smarticon should show up on secure pages.

I had the same problem a couple of months ago when I installed my certs. I manged to get around this problem by telling the box (modified editable side box) to only appear on SSL pages. All other pages are displaying a generic Geotrust button.

This is weird! but in my case I tested the SSL in both (secure and non-secure) pages ... same result ... no image!

Did you look at the underlying code of the smarticon? Should look something like this:

<!-- GeoTrust QuickSSL [tm] Smart Icon tag. Do not edit. --> <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript" TYPE="text/javascript"

SRC="//smarticon.geotrust.com/si.js"></SCRIPT> <!-- end GeoTrust Smart Icon tag -->

Yes I did infact the problem was my ISP misguided me and told me they installed GeoTrust SSL when in fact they installed RapidSSL, which has no code ... nothing ...

As both belong to GeoTrust ... then the right info was shown when clicking, but an 'invisible' seal was displayed instead of the logo.

That's correct. The RapidSSL certificate does not come with a dynamic seal. There is a static RapidSSL seal located at http://www.rapidssl.com/ssl-certificate-support/ssl-site-seal/rapidssl.htm instead.

The Geotrust seals can be displayed on both secure and non-secure pages. The requirement for the seal to display is that it is on a validated site's page that purchased a product that includes the dynamic seal.

There is page that compares the various products and seals at http://www.geotrust.com/ssl/compare-ssl-certificates.html
