I want both Shipping cost by weight and flat rate

I am using Database Patch Level: 1.3.8.

Most of my items are fine with the weight figuring the shipping. I have one company I order from that drop ships for me. They have a standard amount per box. So, on items I get from them, I would like to make shipping a set price. Also, I have one item that is very light, but it's dimensions makes a larger box necessary. I have added to the weight amount trying to counter this, but I was wondering again, if I would be able to just put a set amount on that item. Any help would be appreciated. I am very novice at this. :)

I did do a search and saw where I can set up a standard amount, but I don't want to do that on every product.

What shipping module(s) are you currently using?

What happens on a Mixed Order of "normal ship by weight" and these other Products?

Are these other Products a single Flat Rate regardless of quantity or a charge per Item?

I use Free shipping, store pick up and USPS.

The only mixed items I would have at this point is free and USPS. The free is determined by using a zero weight.

These products would be a flat rate of $7.95 per item, but they would probably only want to order one at a time.

Currently, is there something in the products table that distinquishes these dropship products such as the manufacturers_id or anything?

Do you use 0 weight for other products that are "Free Shipping" or just these dropship products?

I only use zero weight for free shipping items. Everything else is given a weight.

Do you currently have anything in the products table that identify these products for the Flat Rate charge?

Do they all have the same manufacturer or anything?

I am not exactly sure what you mean by Products table. I am sorry... I am a REAL beginner.

I did look under Products Type and there is a free shipping option there.

Is the manufacturers_id set to this dropship company?

Once you know what products are from the dropshipper is the shipping cost:
product qty * shipping rate = shipping cost
