How do i change a title in the menu for EZ page?

Hiya

My zen cart site has a cutomised design. Some of the menu titles are generated via the zen cart admin>category/products, but I also had some static pages created where I can alter the page content via zen admin, but I cant see where to edit the title showing in the main menu to something different.

The page URL gives a page id so it goes something like this (though ive removed my domain name)

http://www.mywebsite.com/index.php?main_page=page&id=12

Do I change this page menu title somewhere in zen admin or through my hosting ftp space? And if so, where will I find it and how do I change it in there?

Any ideas?

Not sure exactly what you're asking.

The URL you supplied would be pointing to an EZ page with an id of 12.

How did you want it to appear?

OK in my website I have a navigation menu and I want to change one of those menu titles.

his particular title links to page_id 12 which is an EZ page where I can edit the page content but there is no where in there to change the actual menu title. I want to know where and how to change the menu title.

I dont want to change the URL, I just showed that in case it helps with someone giving me the answer. Sorry if it confused things.

A link to your site would probably help, if the previous owner did some custom coding. If the menu title is for the EZ page in question, it would be changed by editing the EZ page. The EZ page title is the field at the top where it says Page Title.

No, im afraid it cant be changed in there, hence this thread.

In EZ, where it says to add the title, this title then appears as the heading title within the page content (where a H1 title would typically appear). It does not however, change the menu title at the same time.

The site has a front end bespoke design, it does not use a zen template so I am guessing I need to edit the menu title somewhere else, but not in EZ. But i've looked in my files in ftp and cant see anything in most of the files ive been in to so now i'm stuck.

Have you used the Developers Tool Kit to search for the title to see where it's defined?

Very difficult to offer advice where code is hacked/customized...

This is often what happens when a desired LOOK becomes more important than a critical FUNCTION...

But surely lots of people use a bespoke design on a zen cart and have a navigation menu which from time to time might need a title changing? I can't see what is complex about that. I dont want to list the website here publicly hence no link.

A problem does not exist as such, it is only that my web designer has moved on, I am mostly a novice, and was wondering if this was something I could do myself. It's only a problem because I am a novice not because the site is hacked to death in some strange and complex manner that it cannot have a title changed.

We have told you how this issue is handled in CORE ZENCART. If you have tried our suggestions and the desired result has not been achieved, then the person who set this up has either REMOVED or ALTERED core behaviour. They have achieved a design component at the expense of core functionality.

As you won't provide a link to your site (which may not help actually, as the CODE has been hacked in your case) - and that we can't see... even if you do provide a link.

So... it is not possible to offer any further suggestions - other than you get hold of that "designer" and find out what they changed.
