'contact us' emails not arriving

Hello,

I was just checking the contact us part of my system. When someone sends me an email from the contact us page it never gets to its destination.

As admin , I am able to send emails , but I cannot recive any from contact us page. :frusty::::frusty::( Another lovely :censored: suprise ....

Any help greatly appreciated ,

My host is bluehost
my transport method is php though ive tried this with the whole range of methods.

if i use abc <abc.website.com> you see abc in the dropdown of contacts. If i use abc.website.com is see abc.website.com in the dropdown. Try as I may , I cannot get this f___%#r to send me an email.

I use Blue Host too and it was pretty straightforward. Under Admin - Configuration - Email options I set SMTP Email account mailbox to [email protected], password to the one I assigned to that Emailbox when I set it up on Blue Host's control panel, Mail Host is mail.SteigerFamily.com, and server port is 25. Then I just put in my Email addy for the copy-of and notifications options I wanted and it has worked fine. I do have Email Admin format set to TEXT, I don't know if that makes a difference or not.

done this, still no joy. 2.02 am been at this :censored: bs for 4 hrs . What a waste of time

Should the 'contact us' page be giving any confirmation that the email has been sent ?

Have exhausted all the possibilities here. (Just got the Zencart e-commerce Application development book by Suhreed Sarkar). What a piece of garbage. Some areas of the book are verbatim from Zen Cart itself. Absolutely useless and as much use as a fart in a space suite :D .

Lol , I have a Bsc degree majoring in mathematics and computer science and I cannot figure this out. What chance a friggin newbie with some of this stuff......................

If i use smtp as a transport method i get this message when sending emails from admin:

'Email Error: SMTP Error: The following recipients failed' . so smtp is a no-no.

sendmail -f works for sending mails from the admin, but again, nothing recieved from 'contact us' page.

Talking to yourself is the first sign of madness, so I'll call it quits at 3.23 am , after 5 1/2 hrs of smashing square pegs in round hole. Man what a f___king mission this is...... It should be much easier than this

Try looking at the following wiki articles on troubleshooting emails first:

  If the above still does not work, check to see whether you are experiencing the same problem as this thread.

Finally, it would be good if you post the versions of software you are using (e.g. Zen Cart, Apache, MySQL) and whether you are using any mods.

Something is definitely screwy on my server.

I have two sites. One hosted by siteground and the other by bluehost. I checked the email sending via 'contact us' on siteground and bingo it works a charm. Checked the email sending on blue host with a similar setup and it fails.

When sending an email via contact us, you should get a confirmation message 'Your message has been successfully sent.' popping up. This fails on bluehost , or with my zencart install on bluehost.

Gonna blow away my install there, make a fresh install, load my database , reconfigure email options, check the email functions using the fresh install and default template.

when that works i'll load up the new template , and dance naked in the garden:clap:

Definitely something screwy on the server. I reinstalled software, changed the email settings, sent email with success. For bluehost and siteground I used sendmail -f

Damn, Finally got to the bottom of this.

Reinstalled zen cart, checked the contact us was working on default install. Yessir:shocking: . Put my new customized tpl_header.php in there and I screwed it up. Finally figured out the problem (my own coding balls-up:unsure:).

Learned some stuff.

1. Use sendmail -f for bluehost and siteground works fine. Bluehost definitley easier login and quicker access to control panel, and their information about setup appears better.

I have a similar problem with mine...

I have setup the e-mail options settings for my SMTP server. Not being hosted at the same site as my ZenCart. SMTP server is being hosted onsite here at my work.
When I try to use Contact US... it says successfully sent but never arrives...

The strange thing is that we I go to Tools > Send Email
I have already setup 2 accounts with 1 email to a hotmail account and the other is work email. Both emails successfully sent and arrives to both accounts...
Does it send differently through the Send Mail option or do they both Send Mail and Contact US us my companies SMTP server to send.

I hope this makes sense... I'm not too technical with all the terminology...:frusty:

If your contact-us email address is not typed in the proper format, it cannot be delivered. See the format in the description text next to the input field in Admin->Configuration->Email Options->Contact Us Pulldown

The contact-us code uses the same email sending system as all the other emails generated via Zen Cart.
