Zone Rates, one country, two Islands, two rates.

Hi,

I'm a little confused and was looking for some pointers to setting this up.

New Zealand has two Islands (North Island and South Island) and each has its own shipping rate which I want to set up in the zone rate shipping module? Can I do this?

Our postal service groups international destinations into their own zones (A,B,C,D, and E) which will work well with the zone rate shipping module, but I cant seem to figure out how to split New Zealand into two rates.

Sorry if I’m missing something fundamental.

The first thing you need to do is split NZ up into those two zones

Go to ADMIN >>> LOCATIONS / TAXES >>> ZONES

When the zones list appears on the screen, navigate down to see if New Zealand is already "zoned".

If not, then click the NEW ZONE button

Then, type into:

ZONE NAME: North Island
ZONE CODE: North Island
COUNTRY: --- Select NEW ZEALAND from the dropdown.
CLICK INSERT

Repeat the above for South Island

NEXT STEP:

Go to: ADMIN >>> CONFIGURATION >>> CUSTOMER DETAILS

For: "State - Always display as pulldown?" - SET TO TRUE

NEXT STEP:

Set up ZONE DEFINITIONS

Go to: ADMIN >>> LOCATIONS / TAXES >>> ZONE DEFINITIONS

CLICK INSERT BUTTON
Then, type into:

ZONE NAME: NZ North Island
DESCRIPTION: New Zealand North Island

CLICK INSERT BUTTON...

REPEAT the above for South Island

Then you must give DETAILS for each of these new zones, so, in the main Zones Definitions screen, SELECT "NZ North Island"

After the screen refrreshes, click DETAILS button

Screen will again refresh

Click INSERT button

SELECT COUNTRY: New Zealand
SELECT ZONE: North Island

CLICK INSERT

Go back to Main Zone Definitions Screen and do the above for NZ South Island

When you have done all that, come back to this thread, because the next step is to install a NEW shipping module to handle these new zones.

Thanks for the that, I think it was the zone terminology that got me, have configured as you sugested and worked out how to install the module to split the zones in New Zealand to North and south.

Now I have a new problem, New Zealand Post do their shipments on volumetric rates or weight and wont give me their formulas for the cost, they just give me a link to their online calculator.

I need a way to specifiy a static dollar value for shipping per product for one of 5 zones or north and south Island.

Would be nice to have a table based on the product ID for one of 7 static shipping values for all the available zones.

Is there a module that would let me do this?
