Storing ancillary data like SKU and product cost?

Version 1.3.8

I have no add ons and the site is fresh install.

I have several different data values that I would like to associate with my products, but it seems like ZenCart gives me no where to store them. I have a SKU number that I would like to use. I'm sure I could overwrite my product id in all applicable tables, however, I'm leery of doing that. I also would like to keep my item cost in the back end of the system so I can quickly run profitability reports.

Has anyone heard of a solution or a module out there that can accommodate this? I have searched and can find nothing on the site or in any Forum thread.

Thanks to all who responded. I'll take a look at these and will certainly see if they are a solution for me. I'm honestly not sure how this isn't a MUCH bigger deal for Zen Cart users. The first thing I wanted to do when I set up my store was add more data that suits my business.
