Price shown for 1 box when using Per Unit

i just cant find it..

using:
Zen Cart 1.3.8a
Database Patch Level: 1.3.8
testing on local pc
everything is standard.. no added templates

i am just going through the basics with the E-start your webstore book

testing Tare-weight and shipping modules in chapter 10
i have max package weight on 50
tare weight small/medium 0:0
tare weight larger 0:0
per unit cost is on 1
test product has weight 1

when ordering 50 products i will get the standard 50 euro costs for shipping... perfectly fine...

when ordering 51 products i get 25,5 euro for shipping costs

i understand the weight goes above my max per package
so it will split into two packages.. but that shouldnt mean the price for shipping is cut in half also...

when i continue to checkout it really only lets me pay for half
is this normal? is there one value i am missing that causes this?

i dont like to continue without feeling i get this

i do see the Warning in the book... I should put Maximum Package Weight i will ship .. higher then the expected total order weight...
so it does seem to warn for this problem.. but if so.. then what is the use of Larger Package settings for this module?

Per Unit is using the weight of the order ...

As such, you need to adjust the Maximum Weight or the weight gets split ...

Try setting the Maximum Weight to: 5000 and make sure that the Tare Rates are set to: 0:0 ... and see if it works better ...

i noticed it works fine that way
all the calculations add up fine..
but putting the max weight higher then the total order weight
means the larger package tare weight calculations will never be applied for this module... that is correct statement?

Technically, that is correct ...

But, it is best just to follow the pattern of setting the Maximum to 5000 or some high value that will not be tripped and setting the Tare Rates to 0:0 ...

You do what ever it is that makes you feel best ... :cool:
