.htaccess not allowed on yahoo hosting -- how do I fix?

Urgent!!! I have a problem with yahoo; in regards to getting the PHP pages to display. It appears that yahoo does not support the use of .htaccess files for authentication on their Apache server. Their tech support told me to change the .htaccess file to
.pl, I I changed all of the .htaccess files on yahoo and every time I attempt to view any Zencart page I get the following error of (Yahoo! - 404 Not Found) "Sorry, the page you requested was not found." Does anyone know how to configure Zencart without the use of the .htaccess file?
