Categories linking to categories, possible?

I was wondering if it's possible to link categories to other categories, not as subcategories, but just create some top level categories, that are linked to other top level categories or to their subcategories?

I want to organize my huge top level category list, and I wanted to know if that can be done using a few top level categories, linked to others? Why do I need to do this? My products are fed daily with an automated script, it changes, everything and activates or deactivates or add new ones, so I need to follow the same tree structure, I can't change those top level categories because the feed will create them again, as I need to display a few top level categories, so the costumers don't get confused, I was thinking if it's possible to link them to empty top level categories or I have to do my buttons and then do the proper SQL queries, to display the proper subcategories, without being outdated.

My goal is simple, if there is a way to do this without resorting to heavy code modification, otherwise is more complicated.

Now I have these top level cats:

Computer-Notebooks, Computer-Desktops, Computer-Cables, etc

I can't simply add them as subcats of Computer-Products, due to the feed structure!(If I do it I will have to manually update the changes, delete the newly created categories, and move the products to the correct subcats, which is a mess considering the large db)

So I thought if there is a way to link them to Computer-Products, and still have the db updated with the feed.
