Changing date added to new products

Ok, I've seen a lot of threads regarding modifications to the database and since I'm a newbie I'm REALLY NERVOUS about messing with my database.

Can some one please tell me the safest way to modify the "date added" field in my database ? I just want to change that date to an older date... this will allow me to modify the maximum value on admin/max values/new products/limited to feature.

I have backed up the zc database with myphpadmin and have it saved as a csv file on my pc. Now I just need to know what a beginner should be using to do this. If you say use EasyPopulate, I'll learn it... but please send me the correct link... I see a few different options and am not sure which one it is.

PHPmyAdmin allows you to manually edit entries in the database.

Yeah, I just checked it out and it doesn't seem very intimidating.... do you modify one field at a time or have you tried doing an update on multiple items ?
