Missing Sidebox Header in IE8

I have been working on building a new site (1.3.8a) and have become much more familiar with php and css. Maybe I'm to the point where I know just enough to be dangerous. Anyway.... When items are placed in my cart, the shopping cart sidebox in the right column displays the contents as desired. The problem is that when using IE8.0.6001, the header that reads "Shopping Cart [more]" does not appear (all other headers work fine). When you roll over it, it does show up in red as expected and the link works. Everything works find in Firefox 3.5.8 and Chrome 4.1.249.10045.

Yes, I have changed the background color of the box and the font color of the heading in the css, but I can't figure out why it works in 2 browsers but not the third.

The site is not in production yet and the address is: https://www.bellaviaggiobeads.com/zencart

I can post the css if needed, but figured I'd start with just the question. Thank you in advance.....

Re: Missing Sidebox Header in IE8

Thanks for taking the time to look at my site stevesh, unfortunately the problem still exists. I was giddy over thinking that some zen-cart elf had magically solved my problem as I've done nothing new since my original post.

After reading your reply and thinking it must be some sort of cache problem, I emptied everything on my three computers and tried again. The "shopping cart [more]" heading did show up - which is what you saw when you visited. But when I selected the link to be taken to my cart, it disappeared again and wasn't available on any further screens regardless of where I went (even hitting the back button) or whether I restarted IE.

Would you be willing to take another look and go one step deeper this time? The fact that it starts working and then stops makes even less sense to me than the fact it works just fine in firefox and chrome.

Re: Missing Sidebox Header in IE8

This is the kind of thing that makes me nostalgic for regular HTML and inline styling :laugh:.

Once you've clicked on that heading, it falls under:

.rightBoxHeading a:visited, .leftBoxHeading a:visited, .centerBoxHeading a:visited {
color: #FFFFFF;
}

and you've got white text on white background. Change the color there to #000000, and it should work.

Re: Missing Sidebox Header in IE8

Thanks for the advice, it worked just like you predicted. It was something I had considered, but I was distracted by the fact Firefox and Chrome seemed to work like I expected, rather than IE working correctly (but not as desired).

The part I still can't explain (but am much less concerned about) is that now that IE links turn black after being visited, why don't those same links turn black in Firefox and Chrome? They remain the same pre-click color.

Should that just be chalked it up the vagaries of web page design/coding?

Thanks again for you help - that's one less thing I need to worry about on my road to production.

Re: Missing Sidebox Header in IE8

Now it may be a cache thing. It works the same here in all three browsers.
