category tab contributions?

Is there a way to add drop downs to the category tabs? I do not want the tab bar or the horizonal drop down, I just want to use the tabs that come with zen cart.

Re: category tab contributions?

Not as standard. You would need to custom code a generated list of categories, and then apply CSS to it to make it hide/show.

Re: category tab contributions?

Is there a category contribution that will let me change the category tabs at the top to include the drop downs for the sub categories.

My customer does not want to use css_horizontal_drop_down_menu_1-5 or
he does not want the bar, he just wants the tabs that are on top to have the drop down.

Please see http://lightingmadesimple.com/index.php

Thank you

Re: category tab contributions?

Well, your client is..............well...............not a web designer, right? What he/she wants IS the CSS horizontal Dropdown menu.....they are just being too pig-headed to realize it. If you hand-code the tabs to "Drop Down".................then you're going to end up with the EXACT same thing as the CSS H D M. That's what it was built for. You can change it to look EXACTLY like the tabs you already have.

Re: category tab contributions?

You are so right. Once thing about it is even if I hard code it, when ever a change is made it will have to be done again. I have told him this and we have change categories sever times and I am just starting this web site.

I found one category_tab_simple_dropdown_menu_1-00a which will do something like what I want.

Yes, he is a pain.

Re: category tab contributions?

The tabs are just a CSS add-on. How you style them, what images you add in, and the colouring is all down to you. You can just give it a background as you have already.

Re: category tab contributions?

Thank you, that helps. Going to try to use it without the coloring.

Absolute is quite correct... don't confuse FUNCTIONALITY with DESIGN.
