Can't get debug utility to work

I've buggered up my site and I've reloaded my saved includes folder but still cant access my site through a browser, I'm getting 404 can't find page. Admin is fine.
I downloaded debug utility, installed it, tried to access my shop, went to the cache file and there is nothing there but .htacess and an index file. What am I missing here?
Any ideas what to check for my whole shop being gone?
I've checked the configure files.
What else could I restore from my back-ups?
Had problems using C-panel restore home directory function.
I'm freakin out here, it's been 2 days!
Any ideas or suggestions would be appriciated.

Re: Can't get debug utility to work

BTW I used the

<?php define('STRICT_ERROR_REPORTING', true); ?>

command and got one of these

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /....includes/something/something/something.php:12) in ..../includes/something_else.php on line 67

I checked that file and all seemed well, so I moved the file to a back up file to "hide it" and the error message just moved on to the next file in the same folder.

Still confused,

Re: Can't get debug utility to work

I checked the error log in my c-panel and it has a long list of file can not be found. Can anyone offer insight to this problem.

Sorry to post so often, but I'm stuck and finding new info, but no solution.

Re: Can't get debug utility to work

Hmmm........ Actually it looks like you might have got it fixed, as your site seems to be working now?

Re: Can't get debug utility to work

Thanks for answering, but I didn't fix it. I begrudgingly threw my hands up and had my host restore the whole thing for me.
I was kinda freaking out. I hate to go two days with no progress.
I lost two weeks worth of tweaking. Sucks, but I sould BU more often. The problem is in my part of the country the fastest connection I can get, isn't fast at all. BU's take 45 minutes.
I've decided to leave my computer on every other day when I leave and let it back up over night.
Thanks anyway.
Now, how do I delete all these posts?

Re: Can't get debug utility to work

On your web host, don't you have cPanel? If so, you won't need to leave your computer on at nights. You can set it to automatically back up your site as often as you like, and it will store it in the root of your domain.

Oh, yea......................you CAN'T delete these posts.

Re: Can't get debug utility to work

Awesome! Thanks for the info. I'll configure that this afternoon.

Now that this thread has useful info for clueless people like me, it has relevance and doesn't need deletion.

Re: Can't get debug utility to work

By the way, for anyone reading this for info on the debug utility...
I read that it only reports if you have a PHP error. It doesn't report, "No PHP errors, try somewhere else." You'll just have to have faith in DrByte that it works.

He seems to be a clever guy.
