Multiple orgin or shipping location frustration

Ok, I have searched, I think, every post of about drop shipping and multiple shipping locations and different warehouse orgins and I still feel lost.

Is there or is there not a good, stable module, plug-in, add on for setting up accurate shipping for drop shipping that is free?

xmodules.com has what might be a good answer for $75.00 but there are no reviews of it and is more than I want to pay for this.

The "Origin Based Drop-Shipping" module might have worked if all my vendors used FED-EX (which they don't) and from the thread about it, it does not sound stable.

Is there no PHP hero out there who can point a newbie on the right path?

I need a shipping module that will accurately calculate shipping costs for UPS from different shipping orgins.

Please don't let me or my bank account die dumb.

You should have gathered that most strike a balance on shipping

If you will not strike a balance - decide what not having this will cost you in uncovered shipping or in lost sales from having shipping too high

Not free - but many have used and reported that it does an excellent job - And again, what will the cost to you be if you do not have this ability

Argh, I was hoping there was an easy answer. previously, I tried to open a shop with instant e-stores and they had a product attribute that was product orgin as long as you had the manufacturer ship rate it worked great. it was prefect for drop shipping. however i still like zen-cart better. i'm not sure where to go from here.
