Admin not saving settings...no idea how to fix

Hi.

I just installed Zencart with using Dreamhosts One Click Install. I followed the directions for configuring and everything else.

When I log into the admin panel, I can not change the values of anything. I can click on things and change the values, but they do not save when I click update, it instead takes me right back to the opening admin panel page.

Can anyone steer me in the right direction to remedy this?

Dreamhosts should actually change their name to Nightmarehosts - it is more appropriate. They are not known for being good eCommerce hosts.

Have you tried doing a MANUAL install? It's not difficult. If - after a manual install you still have problems, then change hosts before you tear out your hair.

I didn't try a manual install of zencart, because quite frankly...I'm a novice at this stuff and figured the 1 click would be the easiest way for me.

I did download the Zencart zip folder from their site and have the folder on my computer. Is it as easy as dragging and dropping those files into the directory that I would like the store to appear in?

Inside the unzipped ZC program is a folder called docs

Inside that, there is a file called index.html

Click that (index.html) and start reading...

If you are unsure about anything, come back to the forum.

Ok, I got this fixed by doing the following.

I downloaded the securtiy patch that I had found in another thread

From that zip admin>includes>functions>html_output.php

Replaced the html_output.php file on my server and everything is working fine now.

Fingers crossed for minimal or no problems here on out.

FYI, version 1.3.9 is in beta testing and expected to release officially next week. So, feel free to play around with the 1.3.8 you've got now, but I would recommend using 1.3.9 when you actually start preparing your real site.
