Category Title 'text' instead of image

I am using 1.3.8 and cant believe I cant solve this.

I have chosen to use text for the category and sub category headings by playing with font and style in .css

The issues are:

The heading disappears when you get to the product_info level.

The 'text' sub category headings don't appear at all .. either when yo click on a category or at the product_info level

can this be handled in Admin panel? or css?

In admin/configuration/product Info i have set

Previous Next - Navigation Includes Category Name and Image Status to 1 [show category name only] BUT no luck.
Anyone know how to solve this

We'll probably need a link to the site to figure out #1. It may be you set the font color to the same as the background color somewhere in the stylesheet.

For #2, check your setting for Admin - Configuration - Layout Settings - Categories - Always Open to Show SubCategories

If that's set to 1, we'll need to see the site to figure that out, too.

I have rechecked the style sheet thoroughly ... and the setting was already 1 .. I have played with that setting with no luck

When you click on Bear Gallery the heading Bear Gallery disappears when you go to an individual product, I want the Gallery name they are in to be on top of the product layout.

Same with sub categories.
Click on Prints: Cape Dorset. There are actually 4 categories 2006/2007/2008/CD2009. BUT only the one with a category icon 2009 appears. and then disappears when you ccick on an individual product again

Admin > Configuration > Product Info > Previous Next - Navigation Includes Category Name and Image Status.
Configuration > Product Listing > Show SubCategories on Main Page while navigating. This should really show all or none; showing just one subcat seems like odd behavior.
