Classic template how do I change all the buttons to my own

I am using the CLASSIC template and I've just finished making most of the changes I'd like.
Can someone tell me how I change the add to cart buttons and all teh others, I found there location, copied and created my own for each one, the same size and named then the same things, just when I upload them, I stoll get all the same ones, they dont change to mine.
I went ad did the custon tutorial, but it set up a whole new template for me to start all over again with. I dont want to start agin, I like the changes I've made to the CLASSIC template, I just want to add my own buttons..

Re: Classic template how do I change all the buttons to my own

Firstly, you should be using your OWN template - not making changes to the "classic" template.

There are important reasons for not making changes to CORE files, and the template over-ride system is there for good reason.

So... before you go further, you should create your own template, and MOVE files that you have edited into that template, making sure to replace all CORE files with their originals from a fresh download of the full software.

When you have created your own template (following the over-ride principles) then come back to the forum and ask your questions again.

(There are some zencart button generators on the internet, that you can use to create new button sets).

Re: Classic template how do I change all the buttons to my own

I won't lecture you on the importance of creating your own template, but you should.

In your case, you would have created a 'buttons' folder under includes/templates/classic, and, under that, an 'english' folder. Your custom buttons would go in there (includes/templates/classic/buttons/english).
