Duplicate Order Paypal IPN Website Payments Standard

Duplicate Order Paypal IPN Website Payments Standard

I have zen cart v 1.8.a I use Paypal IPN Website Payments Standard. I got a duplicate order from paypal. It has the same transaction ID, the same time stamp and everything, as well as the same item numbers. I logged into paypal and there is only one payment. The 2 orders went through on the shopping cart, so it depleted the stock of the order 2 times. I have deleted the duplicate order n the store and restocked the items. I wanted to know if you think this is a paypal error, or something going on in my store. Timestamp on paypal is the same on both, the time on zen was apart by 1 minute and 30 seconds or so. Please advise!

P.S> I called paypal and talking to someone that doesnt speak english well, they are looking into it but was not very helpful.

I finally talked to someone in the business developer side and they said that they sent the order 2 times to me because they did not get a 200ok response from my server. Do you know what this could mean, and what steps I need to do to fix it? Is my server timing out , or is it part of zen? Thanks

If your server didn't respond properly to PayPal, then PayPal will attempt to send the IPN again.

That's the major downside to using their archaic IPN methodology.

If you use Express Checkout instead, you won't have those problems.

Additionally, we did some tweaking in v1.3.9 to attempt to minimize these kinds of IPN problems. I recommend upgrading ... whether you continue using the IPN method or not.

Thank you for the help. I am scared to upgrade though. I havent talked to my web girl for a while, she moved and I dont do anything like that, I dont know how. Do you know of a good zen guru to pay?
