Have 1.3.8 installed on server. For new update do I need to upload new version and ..

Hello,

Have a quick question-

1.3.9a has been released. Now I have 1.3.8 installed on server and running.

To apply this update, do I need to remove old and upload this 1.3.9 and configure all the things form scratch, including products upload etc?
