Who is online info is not correct?

appaently the who-is-online info is incorrect and misleading, can anybody help fix the problem?

You've got a worse problem than that.........your site won't load at all.......it times out every time.

Loads for me. It says you have 32 guests on the site. Is that wrong?

Personally, I think that sidebox is a waste of space anyway. Nobody cares how many people are on your site.

Keep visitor and usage stats private.

You don't want to tell competitors how popular your site is.

You don't want to tell customers how unpopular your site is. :)

...funny that, doing some work for a client who cares quite a bit. they sell hardware predominantly, are quite popular and have a loyal, and proud user base.

as a result, they impressed the importance of this facility upon me when selecting modules for their site as they felt it enhanced their credibility to show 100's of users online at all times...

I should have said 'nobody cares' and 'nobody believes those numbers, anyway'. Easy enough to phony up, like the obviously bogus 'reviews' I see on a lot of ecommerce sites.

If the client wants it on there, though ... :smile:

It will always be incorrect or misleading no matter what you do. You have to understand how the internet works and how tracking is done.

I know in 1.3.9a they updated the spiders list. So upgrading will get you a little more accurate numbers but in the end the number is just a best guess.. and always will be. Best bet is to install something comprehensive like google analytics to get the whole picture.
