Double Byte Character Fun with Currency Symbols and Email V1.38a

Im having good fun trying to set up a Japanese store.
The last brige to cross is the order emails, they are all coming through with ¥300
where ¥ is the code to show the yen mark.

Ive tried entering the symbol directly, and also tried replacing the includes/classes/order.php file just in case to no avail.

'currency' => $order->fields['currency'],
Is the line that pulls the currency type in the order class file array I believe.

Can anyone shed any light on what the problem might be please?

Did you try using the converter at Admin->Configuration->Email Options->Convert currencies for Text emails

Re: Double Byte Character Fun with Currency Symbols and Email V1.38a

Helllo,
No, but I have now.
I currently have & # 1 6 5 ; (with no spaces) for my yen symbol, under Localization > Currencies and it displays fine there and everywhere else in the shop. I added the same to Admin->Configuration->Email Options->Convert currencies for Text emails.

I did a test order and im looking at & # 1 6 5 ; (with no spaces)1,200 in the order confirmation email, ie the yen mark isnt showing.

Email systems don't support extended character sets well, hence the use of the translator. You may need to reverse how you entered those parameters in that setting.

Or perhaps you have a character set problem when sending your emails. What character set are your emails arriving in?

Re: Double Byte Character Fun with Currency Symbols and Email V1.38a

Thanks for your assistance here!

The whole store is in UTF-8, the character set of the emails is UTF-8 and the rest of the Japanese Kanji (product names etc) are showing fine in the emails. There are no other issues with the store at all now.

I removed the & pound;, (no space) and replaced it with & #165;, (no space).
Now I get the emails with no yen character but also no & #165; (no space) there either so I guess its a slight improvement.
