Selling custom downloads

Hi all, I am working on a site that will sell pre-designed graphics. Logo's, business cards etc. I have pretty much figured out the download process for delivering the files once the customer order.

But I also offer a service to customise the graphics, change colours & text etc, this would require a unique downloadable file.

Does anyone have any ideas how I could achieve this? Would I tell the customer that they will receive a link to the file once I have made the changes, if so how would I link it to the product they ordered?

I'd like to offer two options, one for people who just want to purchase and download the template immediately and another option if people want customisation of the graphic. Any tips for this solution would be much appreciated.

OK I'm making some progress on this one. The set up I have at the moment is this:

I decided to use the product options route. The product has two purchase options, one is the non customisation option which just downloads the standard logo template.

The second option is choosing to customise the logo colours and add a company name. This is where Im a bit stuck. At the moment there is a download with this option, but that is basically just a text file saying the custom logo will be with them soon. I then use the Edit Orders mod to add the new download once I have edited the logo and uploaded it. This notifies the customer the download is ready, but also keeps the path to the download secure.

So far so good. But what I'd really like is for the second option to not actually be a download. Here is my ideal scenario:

Customer chooses option 1, no customisation, just a simple download. No problem.

Customer chooses option 2, this brings up a text box for them to let me know the Company name and colour changes required. No need for a download link, I'll add that later.

Problem is right now the custom text box is always there, whichever option the customer would choose.

Sorry if I'm rambling!

Maybe edit the Option Name for the TEXT attribute and add a comment to it explaining how the customization works?

Just in case anyone else is looking for something similar, I found this add on
