New customer asking to be removed from mailing list

I had this happen today. A customer who had just made an account, had made no purchases, and was not on any mailing lists asked to be removed. But I have the allow guest to recommend to friend thing turned off.

Just as an aside... I hate spammers.

They get a welcome e-mail when they create an account. Ask them if they received something else from your site, and if not, assure them that you will be sending no more messages except confirmations when making a purchase.
