really odd favicon issue

Hi, all –

So, I decided to add a favicon.ico file to my site. I created the file, uploaded it to my test site, and uncommented the line in includes/languages/english/CUSTOM/meta_tags.php. It worked fine.

I then took the exact same file, uploaded it to my live shop and made the same change to the meta_tags.php file.

Doesn't show in the live site. I used Developers Tool Kit and the occurrences of the FAVICON constant are identical.

Now, here's the weird part. I tried my live site in three other browsers: Safari, Opera and IE. It WORKS on all of those. Just not on Firefox. I've even cleared the cache and browsing history in FF; still no favicon.

Anyone want to hazard a guess as to what kind of black magic is happening within Firefox on this one?

You can try it for yourself at:

https://www.cinderellaantiques.com (live shop)
https://www.cinderellaantiques.com/shop_v139_test (test shop)

Thanks.

I'm seeing the "CA" favicon in FF, IE7/8, Safari, Opera and Chrome

Hey Zim,

Did you clear all of your cache and other stuff {technical term}.

Fire Fox is very picky with ICO's in this area.

Heh...this is pretty amusing. Well, if Linda sees it in FF, I'm going to assume that Al's on the right track about my cache. I've cleared it out as best as I know how, but no favicon, and I'm just not going to worry about it any more. Thanks for looking, guys.

Favicons cache as hard as granite... Wait a few days, and you will see it.

BTW I see it in both as I have no cache of your site.
