Optional extras with weight/dimensions

I want to add optional extras to products, but need shipping weights and dimensions to be included, how to??

Example, I sell special coins, the coin for example is 25 mm diameter, I want to offer a display stand and or case, but this increases the package size for shipping, how can I link these? so the dimensions and weight are included to work out correct shipping?

Would the only option be to display the coins without the case, and separately sell the coins in the case?

You can use the 'attributes' feature to adjust for the weights. Alas, there is no way (that I'm aware of) to add dimensions as an attribute and have this information passed to the shipping module(s).

It would require some custom coding.

Sell the coins and cases separately, and install the "Better Together" module for cross promotion.
