change default currency but still in euro

I know there are other related threads but not matching to my issue.

After upgrading I wanted to change my default currency to USD. So I switched it to be default, set value to 1 and updated. Now in the catalog the price itself changed to something lower than before and the currency is still EUR. But in my admin the prices are shown in USD. On my testsite I had no problems switching to USD.

Any help would be appreciated!

Ok, false alarm. It was my the cache of my browser. Just cleared it and e'thing's fine now.
