Turn off display product weight broken

Noticed that our product weight is showing in the product description.

Going into Configuration/Product listing there is a Display Product Weight item and says

Display Product Weight
Do you want to display the Product Weight?

You can enter a number in the box but it has no guidelines.

This was noticed on upgrade from 1.3.7 to 1.3.9

Changing the number seems to have no effect

On the individual item description page in the store. That is where we do not wish the item weight to be displayed.

Go to the Catalog ... Product Type ... and click the EDIT LAYOUT button to customize what shows and what does not for a Product Type ...
