Empty download files - server question

Hello. I upgraded to ZenCart 1.3.9b the other day and am having issues. I searched and saw where this was addressed and tried everything suggested to no avail. I've talked with my server tech (Doteasy).

Onwards to the problem! lol After upgrading to the 1.3.9b, all my downloads are coming up empty. Even zip files that have been active since 2005 when I first started with ZenCart are coming up empty. The tech says nothing has changed on the server since my upgrade.

I've tried changing to streaming, redirect, changing permissions and every other suggestion made on the other topic I read.

Server info: Apache/2.2.6 (Fedora) I'm not sure what else you may need as far as server info. My store is cut and dry. http://www.heartstringsembroidery.com/catalog/

What is recommended from the server standpoint so this doesn't happen to others (and of course to fix mine). Is there a bug fix for it or is all in the settings? I can handle simple code changes so is there a code change that needs made? I have some ticked off customers at this point so any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you! Stephanie

Re: Empty download files - server question

Thank you for the responses. I followed the directions and changed the code on the page. I changed to redirect, checked permissions, created new order and got a HTTP 403 - The Default index.html file could not be found. Changed back to streaming and the file is empty.

What should I tell my server to try to fix this? I'm switching to a new server (same host) next week and I'm not comfortable moving a unworking cart. 100% of my products are instant download. I'm going bonkers sending files.

Re: Empty download files - server question

What is your server's apache error_log saying about the root cause behind the 403 error?

If it's not in your hosting control panel, ask your hosting company.

Re: Empty download files - server question

I just noticed something as I was sending files. On any order since the upgrade, this:

System Comments: {Record generated by IPN} [ProtectionEligibility:Ineligible]

Is on the order page. What does that mean? Is this PayPal lingo? It wasn't on any orders before the upgrade. Could this have anything to do with it?

Waiting on info back from my server. Thanks :-)

Re: Empty download files - server question

Those are information regarding the payment. {Record generated by IPN} means that the status update was generated as a result of receiving an incoming IPN notice from PayPal about that order.
The [ProtectionEligibility] status tells you how PayPal is treating the transaction as far as Seller Protection is concerned.

The text you quoted has nothing to do with whether downloads work or not.

Re: Empty download files - server question

I didn't think it had anything do to with it, just something I noticed! lol

My server tech is reading the forum and following suggestions and we STILL haven't figured out the problem. Are we sure it's a server issue? I've seen a few other posts where others are having the same issue. Nothing changed in the ZenCart code?

Re: Empty download files - server question

Thank you! I made those changes already but I'm going to try a whole new upload of that page and see what happens. I'm so frustrated I can't stand it! I've had to send files now for over a week and I'm so irritated with this. Store was running well and than BAM it's not anymore. Just sent another email to my server asking what on their end might need changed and I'll try it with the updated fixes posted on the other post. I am running under streaming mode, not redirect. Is that right?

Re: Empty download files - server question

Made the 2 changes made to download_header.php. Double checked streaming dowload settings and it looks good. Made a new order with an old product. Clicked to download and get a "Internet Explorer cannot open this page". The address in the address bar is /catalog/index.php?main_page=download&order=9440&id=28482 If you right click, save target as, you get the same thing, just in a pop up instead of a full window.

I'm going to go bang my head against the wall for a while... Any suggestions or ideas??? HELP!!! This site is my job and how I pay my bills and having a non-functional site can't happen....
