CenterBoxes on main page not displaying all products

I have two center-boxes on my main page: featured products and categories.

In Firefox, they display PERFECTLY. In IE, they DID display perfectly and now they don't - they won't display the second row of images for each center box.

I've tried adding additional images, removing images, editing number of columns in each row, etc. It is definitely the second row that won't display.

Any ideas?

Looks exactly the same here in IE6, 7 and 8 and Firefox.

(Before you're done, be sure to optimize your images - they're waaaay too big now (file-size, not dimensions.))

What would you recommend as the best top "total file size" for images on any one page?

It is definitely not displaying correctly in IE 7.0 - there should currently be three rows of Featured Products, and 2 rows of categories at the bottom (total of 8 featured products and 6 category images).

I could really use help on this if anyone has an idea of what is going on. I've tried everything I can think of...

I have decreased all file sizes.

While I would still like to find a better solution, I have also applied a very unsatisfactory work-around to my main issue:

I adjusted configuration - maximum values - categories to list per row - to 6 so it will show all categories across the bottom of the page.

Adjust (again) featured products per row in config - index listing
so hopefully it's not too cluttered (I wanted a box so as to have 2-3 rows of 3 products each - now it's just one row since it wasn't showing the second row, but WOULD show the third row) I also had to turn some featured products OFF so the same number show in both Firefox and IE (I suppose I could have allowed a different number to show in each, since Firefox would display a second row)

Then adjust the sizes of the small images (config - images) so they didn't overlap in either centerbox
(subcategory image width for the categories and small image width for the featured products)

I'm not too proud of these accomplishments - I think one row of 6 is a bit cluttered, even with small images.

If anyone has an idea what the issue might be, I will HAPPILY switch back to 2 rows of three categories each at the bottom (and 2 rows of 4 products each at the top).

It's a very strange problem. The middle of three rows doesn't display in IE7.

I think I would have added some more test products to see what happens when you should have four or five rows. If none but the upper and lower rows appear, that might be a clue.

As it is, I can't see anything in the code that would make this happen.

When I first posted this thread, I had 8 products in Featured Products, set to show 3 in each row. The middle row did not display (items 4, 5, 6).

I added 4 more products, so it would have 4 rows. They all displayed, except the second row.

I added a total of 21 products. The second row did not display.

I cut it back to 6 products. The second row did not display.

None of these did anything to the categories at the bottom of course.

I tried stuff in stylesheet. No change.

I tried replacing the original files (I had re-arranged items in index_categories and another file to get featured products at the top). Nothing changed.

It just wasn't acceptable to me to leave the bottom only showing 3 categories. Featured products - ok, I can handle that - so it shows different in each browser. Ok. But not the categories.

I'm just at a loss. I guess I'll leave it as it is for now, until I can't stand the 1-row layout anymore and try again later.

My problem is a little differnt. My main page will not open with the Featured List even though Admin> is set at the default of 22.

Nothing I seem to do has any effect.

You have your main page set to open with a category that doesn't have any products in it.

I don't know if that will stop the Featured products from displaying, but it would be something to check.

BTW, my image-optimizing suggestion applies to your site, too.

Any idea how I find out the id# for Featured Products as the default. It shows upas best as I can make out at '22' which what is set..

Where exactly in admin is this '22' setting?
