Shipping Estimator:how to edit States?

I am trying to edit my states in the shipping estimator. It shows things like Armed Forces of Canada and American Somoa, etc. I only want it to show the US states.

If I go into Developers Toolkit and search for American Somoa for example, it doesn't find anything. I can't seem to find where the list for the drop down menu is so I can edit it.

Any help would be appreciated

They are stored in the database
admin > Locations / Taxes > Countries

Yes, Kobra is correct... These are not "static" labels that are "resident" in the php... It is DATA in the DATABASE.

The best way to remove them is to follow the menu "tree" indicated by Kobra, and use the "delete" function to erase the ones you don't want from the database.

Under Admin, Locations/Taxes, countries listed :only United States (as it should be)

OK... you looked under COUNTRIES and found just USA.

What do you see under ZONES ? :smile:

There was nothing under zones. That wasn't always the case. I think something "hiccuped" yesterday because the states used to be set up. I re-set up the states and now the odd ones don't appear.

Alas, a new problem though. Now my sales tax isn't working:wacko: I have checked to make sure that the sales tax zone is for my state and it "appears" to look right but honestly, that's the least of my concerns for now (don't get a lot of in state orders). If you know what I need to do to reconfigure the sales tax, that would be great.

Have you considered getting a copy of THIS ?

It provides lucid and comprehensive explanations of many aspects of the admin console.

It certainly helped me understand some of these rather detailed functions and features.

up until this point, I've been okay with some help from the forum.

Once I upgrade to the newest version (I'm waiting until the version for the new partial payment option required by Authorize.net is available), I'll probably buy it. Until then, I just send in some donations:) Thanks!
