I've just installed the Cart. How do I open Admin?

High, obviously I'm a n00b but how do you even open Admin??? I can't find any info regarding that anywhere... I haven't done a single change to my template site yet...

When you installed, you would have been asked to provide a username and password. It would not have installed otherwise.

Did you do a manual install, or did you use an auto-installer on your host?

I did everything like it's described in the docs help file... I used core ftp lite to upload, then did the rest in the browser...

Yes. Maybe its servers fault...

On the admin page there is a password reminder, have you used that?

But I can't see anything when I type /admin, the browser displayes error - nowhere to log in... should i try a different server? The one that I'm using is free and I'm only running everything right now to test out the cart and learn how to use it.

You really have to be a lot more specific... What is the error message you are seeing? Where and who is the host? What is the website address?

so before the browser was displaying typical 'can't display page' message, now it displays 'The page you requested is not available, please try again in a few minutes. Alternatively you can use the form below to find what you are looking for.' and there's servers interface now. The hosting site is x10hosting.com and the template is at outlinear-recordings.x10hosting.com

It might be servers bugs or incompatibilities, so I might need to try another free server. I tried a couple before I landed on this one while installing, the other ones were 000a and something else, both on vista panel. They had problems with curl and php...

That's your problem... No "free" server will be configured to run what is a highly sophisticated program.

Don't waste any more of your time...

If you are serious about ecommerce, sign up with a proper host.

You can also work on a local machine, but it needs XAMPP to run zencart. XAMPP is free.

PS: keep away from goDaddy too... and any other ultra-cheap hosts.

Thanks, I'll try XAMPP. I didn't think that no free hosting server is good for cart programs. I just want to learn how to use it first, before I'll put it up... Cheers!

The reason you seem to be getting errors when you try to access your admin is that you have set the admin to use https when you do not appear to have https setup on your server,

So I can put

http://outlinear-recordings.x10hosting.com/admin/login.php

into my browser and see the login page.

if I just put

http://outlinear-recordings.x10hosting.com/admin

into my browser it attempts to redirect to a https page.
