Sometimes no description details sent to PayPal
Hello all,
i am glad i have finally found a thread regarding this problem.
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=146593
For close to 2 years and counting the problem has occurred on and off.
I am still using zecart 1.38a,
Yes i have had this problem for some time and thought it was a paypal problem. I have found the problem occurs when a customer from another country outside the USA purchases a product in their countries currency eg. euro. My zencart is set as US currency as the default.
I have found that 90% of the time it happens and that may be because a discount coupon is not used or a discounted product has not been bought, but i am not sure on this. As sometimes the descriptions are there. It is very strange indeed.
It would be good if Dr byte could investigate this problem with paypal and see if an update for all versions could be configured as paypal is a massive part of doing business and it should be 100% correct all the time. If this is done could you notify the subscribed to this thread people? Any help to make us look more professional would be appreciated, thanks dr byte.
Recently a new problem has occurred where on the paypal "order details" page on the paypal website a strange long string of letters is now in the product description box, the paypal email sent out is garbled when it gets to the product desriptions also.
All else works fine eg. the order conformation email from zencart all reads correct and also in the customers website account. Is anyone else having this happen to them? to be sure check some of your order details pages on the paypal website.
As of today i have contacted paypal asking them to take a look, i will report back here if there is anything of interest from them.
To me this seems like a simple problem that people in the know can fix. Lets keep up the questions and find an answer as this will eventually benefit all zencart users who use paypal, a win for us all. If you know a programmer ask him to take a look you never know it may be a simple code fix.
