How to send data out to a separate database (on same server) after an order is made?

Zen cart version: 1.3.8a

We sell "Teacher Training", and every Teacher Training Class is a product.

What we want to do is, when they purchase a class, we want to send the user data (name, address, etc) as well as the class model number to a separate Database that we are creating.

What file do I have to edit in order to send out the information when the purchase is made?

One big caveat: We currently use Paypal Express Checkout and Linkpoint/Yourpay API for payment, and they are both set to "Authorize only". So basically, I want the zen cart to send out the data ONLY AFTER the order is "charged"... like when we finally capture the money.

Check and see if everything you are looking for isn't controlled in the order.php class ...

Everything has to processes in there and if you need to add data from the order to another class you can obtain the data from in there ...

That and the checkout_process.php module should be able to be used for managing the information and gathering where you need it ...

What gets processed when we hit "Capture" to capture the money, is it order.php as well? That's basically what I'm confused about right now.

It really depends on where you need to processes your code in relation to the order ...

For to processes after a Capture, look in the /admin/orders.php and if you search on:
doCapture

you will see the cases where this is run ... you can add more code before the redirect or within this case ...

You may find the other cases in that section of help also for you ...

Between those three files you should locate where and when you actually want to apply your changes to update your other table ...
