How do I upload everything to a new server?

Hi guys, thanks in advance for helping me with my problem.

I was following this tutorial, setting up zen cart using x10hosting.com

All went well until step 6, I couldn't really figure out how to open the fix_cache_key.php file. I uploaded it to the correct directory on x10hosting.com, and then I tried to access mywebsite.x10hosting.com/home/myname/public_html/fix_cache_key.php, and it wouldn't work:no:, 404 error.

Anyways, I cut my losses, and reinstalled zencraft for about the 5th time in two days. I'm going to have to re-add my products, change the template, and sideboxes and everything again... sigh...

But I'm worried. What if I choose to use a new hosting provider in the future, how will I transfer everything over? How do you guys update your sites offline and then upload them online after everything is working? I can't get it to work.

Well, let's start with your first problem, and go from there.

To open the fix_cache_key.php, you just need to go to your Home page and add that to the URL like:

Home:
yoursite.com

Fix:
yoursite.com/fix_cache_key.php

The rest is pretty much just by following the rest of the steps in the Tutorial you're looking at.

Note: Be SURE you delete the fix_cache_key.php IMMEDIATELY after use!!! You will be prompted to, anyway, though.

Yes, I did do that to try to access fix_cache_key.php

I just uploaded my site to a new server.

Admin is fine but the store won't work.
also, fix_cache_key.php wouldn't activate

Any ideas ?

Compare the settings in the two configure files for:
/includes/configure.php
/admin/includes/configure.php

If the Admin is working, see what is different on the catalog file ...

You also could be having an issue with a bad upload of files via FTP ...

Also, check the .htacess file and make sure it wasn't written specific to your other server ...

check: they have the same DB settings. Other settings (than the DB one) I should pay attention to ?

What do you mean by "different" ?

Could this be an issue with the database ? I have an extra table..created for purposes of recording payment info. But that works
on my original site..

I never managed to run it..

Is there another way around to solve the cache problem ?

You can go into the database and delete the cache, if you know what you're doing, but the easiest way is to run the fix_cache_key.php.

All you have to do to run this is upload it to the root of your site, and call it as explained in my above post.

Same here, I just moved servers and attempted to run the fix_cache_key.php but it would Not run at all? Kept getting a page not found error.

How to you do what it's suppose to do manually?
You said clear the cache in the database?
Do you mean the (zen_db_cache)? If yes, do I just Select All an Drop?
