403 Permission Denied

I did an upgrade to Zen Cart recently and now when somebody tries to download a product they get a message like:
403 Permission Denied
You do not have permission for this request /pub/.lqtplfurvuyebgqbmb/[filename]

Something tells me it's an easy permissions problem but have no idea how to fix it. Any thoughts?

Ken.

Re: 403 Permission Denied

What are the permissions to the /pub folder?
What are the permssions and file types that exist in that folder?
What server system do you use?('nix or win)

/pub permissions are 0777
Server Linux
I'm using Zen Cart 1.3.9d

FYI I also have two versions of Zen Cart running on the same server. One is under www/ and the other is www/ebooks. I don;t think it matter but wanted to come out and mention it. It's the www.ebooks that I'm having a problem with. I have not upgraded the other one yet.

Re: 403 Permission Denied

I am having the same issue only I am on a fresh install and running using: v1.3.9f. The server is in production mode, Authorize.net is in TestMode and I am using the SIM module. No addons, hosting with hostmonster and this is my first zen cart store.

The first time I tried to download a purchased song I got a 500 internal server error. Now I get the
403 Permission Denied
You do not have permission for this request [filename]

I would assume that zen cart sets up the folders with the proper permissions it needs. The pub folder is 777 and the temp folder (.cueiezjzibdwhcle in my case) is also 777. Another thing that has me scratching my head is why there is only one temp folder and why there is a link to only the last song that I purchased instead of several folders with several links of past purchases.

I set the max downloads to 1 time with unlimited expiration date and tried changing max downloads to 10 times and I still get the same problem.

I notice when I log in and look at past purchase under remaining it has these characters. --- *** --- where I am expecting to see the number 1 or the number 10 or 9 or anything but that.
I'm at a lose. :frusty:
Any thoughts?

DrByte:

What is the actual filename?

08 Que Chula Vieja.wav is the name of the file on the server.

error code reads:
403 Permission Denied
You do not have permission for this request /cart/pub/.ihyesnfqnmjoeeyy/08_Que_Chula_Vieja.wav

Thank you!

Let me guess, the problem is the spaces in the file name?

Re: 403 Permission Denied

"wav" is not an allowed filetype by default.

Edit your /pub/.htaccess file and add |wav into the list

SOLVED thank you so much Dr!

Only one thing now, when I click the download button it just goes and plays the song in quicktime player in the browser. To save it you have to right click the download button and click "save target as".
This is going to be terribly confusing for 90% of users.

Any way to fix this?

Re: 403 Permission Denied

If you read a couple lines further down that same file it gives you the answer to that question.
