Problem with |_ before catagory names

I need some help. I have changed some CSS on my site to customize the Navigation catagories.

However i can't seem to get rid of the arrows or odd looking symbols like this....

|_xbox > (6)

Now while i don't mind it showing the (6) as this is the quantity of items in that catagory the |_ before and > after the title of the catagory just looks ugly.

How can i get rid of this?

I am on version 1.3.9c and using Silverfish Template. Although i have changed quite alot around.
