Featured Products image alignment

I’m having some difficulty in aligning the images in Featured Products on the main page. Using Firefox it’s great, but with IE8 I get this random misalignment. I have checked various postings and nothing seems to be helping.
I currently have the following settings;
Featured Products Columns per Row=3
Maximum Display of Featured Products - Main Page=6
I’ve tried various setting in modules/featured_products.php but to no avail.

When I validate the HTML in IE8, I have a few minor errors with OMITTAG NO but I think they’re OK from what I’ve read in postings. Where I do see some other errors are “Opening and ending tag mismatch: a line 207(and others) and div”. When I use “Clean up Markup with HTML Tidy” I’m not sure how to incorporate the these changes.
I don’t know if I’m barking up the wrong tree but would appreciate any help.
Thanks

Re: Featured Products image alignment

Let me add some examples to my post. In all situations Firefox displays images without any problems!
With 2 items added to Featured Products, IE8 displays 2 in row one, display looks OK. (The second image is aligned slightly lower than first).
With 3 items added, IE8 displays two in row one & one in row two.
With 4 items added, IE8 displays two in row one, one in row two & one in row three.
Thanks

Re: Featured Products image alignment

By installing the add-on module "Column Layout Grid for Product Listing" eliminated the problem.
